State Dog Show!

Hi everyone! Here is the link to the form for the state dog show. Entries are to be postmarked by Saturday but there is a $3.00 late fee if you do not make it. https://mass4h.org/programs/dogs

There have also been a few questions about our show. On Sunday, June 7th, please arrive at the Marshfield Fairgrounds between 7 and 8 AM to help with set-up. The show is expected to run into the mid-afternoon and we would appreciate that you also help with clean up. Please bring a NUT FREE dessert for the concessions table and a raffle item.

Dog Camp 2015!

Hey 4-Hers! I just wanted to remind you of a few things about camp before we leave tomorrow!

1. NO FOOD CONTAINING NUTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN OUR CABIN- we have members with severe allergies and we want to make this a safe environment for everyone. We will be checking your food items upon arrival.

2. If you’ve signed up to bring a photo/poster/art, remember those and follow the instructions for those on the camp forms.

3. Please bring WARM AND APPROPRIATE CLOTHING including extra blankets for both you and your dog, as it is expected to be chilly. (Perhaps bring a pair of shorts or two as well, as this is still New England.)

4. Please bring ITEMS FOR THE SOLDIERS AND THEIR DOGS! Even if it’s just a tube of toothpaste or a dog toy, any contribution at all is helpful and highly encouraged. For a complete list, refer to the dog camp form. Our servicemen and women with dogs need all the help they can get and here is our chance to do just that!

5. Be respectful at all times- silence your “boxes” during workshops or just leave them in the cabin in a safe place. Also, remember your pleases and thank yous!!! Enjoy the great outdoors and most of all, the company of the people you’re with- and time with your dog of course!

They will go over further camp rules on Friday night at orientation. I look forward to a lovely weekend with all of you! 🙂

Hello all! Show season is right around the corner and it is time to start filling out that tedious show paperwork! Yay! Below you will find links to many of the forms needed for this year’s 4-H dog program.

The Cave Canem Dog Show (June 7th, 2015)- this is our club’s show and our attendance is very important here. Even if you cannot show, there is still plenty of opportunity for you to participate in the fun and help out. Link: cavecanementry2015-2

Massachusetts 4-H Dog Camp (May 15th-17th, 2015)- A fun weekend with your dog spent at 4-H Camp Farley. If you cannot stay the weekend, there is opportunity for you to visit for the day on Saturday and participate in many of the different and exciting workshops they offer. Good morning! Tonight’s talk night meeting is extremely important so please make sure you are there! There is a parent meeting and we will be discussing and planning the upcoming achievement night. Study Sets: Terriers, general knowledge, and more!

Cave Canem is now on Quizlet! Quizlet is an online flashcard database used to memorize and learn different types of information. Use the sets posted under the club’s name to study terriers, first aid, health, and other general knowledge!

How to access:

• go to www.quizlet.com
• log in or create an account (to save your progress) or skip this step
• search: cavecanem4h
• choose the “user” on the far left (cavecanem4h)
• you will be able to access multiple sets specifically related to our content

There are different settings and games to learn the terms/questions as flash cards or breed ID. There is also a free Quizlet app for Apple and Android devices.

Achievement/Scrapbook

Hello everyone!
   The date (November 19th) of our achievement night is getting closer! If you refer back to my last post about achievement night, I had asked for letters to miss Lapointe to be to me by the 22nd, but I would like to change that to November talk night, seeing as I have only gotten one. It is very important that I have a letter from all members in order to make this a very special gift. I would also like photos and score sheets (and anything else you may think of) to me by that date (November 5th) so please please get those to me. Thanks in advance!

Hello 4-Hers, Volunteers, Parents and Friends

I am preparing the slide show for awards night.  Please email me your4-H photos from the past year so you can be included!
Our awards night is always more fun when we can see your clubs having fun; it lets other clubs see what you do and get to know you better!

You can email them to me at acampora@umext.umass.edu and I will put them in. If you want to put a little blurb in there about what you are doing or where you are, I can make it more fun.
I will be accepting them until October 31
but appreciate it as soon as possible as enrollment will be coming in soon.
